To goal of all sustainability activities at Villeroy & Boch is to combine ecology, economy and social issues. The focus here is on improving energy and raw material efficiency, conserving resources by optimising the production process, reducing the volume of waste water and pollution, and cutting CO2 emissions and other waste gases.
Dekarbonisierung: Based on technologically sound analyses, we have set the year 2040 as the target for achieving CO2 neutrality for the Group. According to our ambitious decarbonisation roadmap, our non-ceramic sites should already be producing in a climate-neutral way by 2030. After systematic site analyses, we have identified 150 technically possible decarbonisation measures. By optimising energy efficiency in the plants and installing photovoltaic systems, we want to avoid almost 50% of the Group's emissions by 2030. The biggest challenge for the next decade will be the development of a radically new combustion process that does not require fossil fuels. We are already involved in research on this today.
Social: Villeroy & Boch also focuses on social responsibility towards our employees and fellow human beings. As a traditional company that has been in existence since 1748, we have always considered it our duty to assume responsibility in the cultural and social environment. This awareness is documented no least in the company guidelines by the principle "Villeroy & Boch - a name that commits us". Villeroy & Boch is a strong and reliable partner to society. For centuries, we have supported projects and measures that enrich people's living environments, especially at our main sites. It is important to us that all employees have a uniform understanding of how we want to achieve our goals. Instruments that convey this mindset are, in particular, the Code of Conduct, the Corporate Guidelines as well as our Leadership Principles.
Responsibility in the supply chain: With technically superior products and sustainable value creation, we ant to maintain our customers' trust in our products in the future. That is why we place just as high standards on our suppliers as we do on our own production. In addition to compliance with the law and labour and environmental standards, our Code of Conduct serves as a binding basis for cooperation with business partners. The aim is for as many suppliers as possible to commit to this Code of Conduct or to prove that they apply at least an equivalent Code of Conduct of their own. This applies to both existing suppliers and new business partners.
