New ETCs: crude oil market long or short / industrial metals sector with currency hedging

WisdomTree now offers exposure to crude oil with various levers and positive or negative mapping, as well as a currency-hedged basket of industrial metals.

31 July 2023. FRANKFURT (Börse Frankfurt). Since Monday, four new exchange-traded commodities from WisdomTree have been tradable on Xetra and via Börse Frankfurt. 

The new ETCs provide investors with access to the performance of commodities from the energy and industrial metals sectors.

The product offering includes three ETCs that provide exposure via futures contracts to WTI Crude Oil with a triple leveraged long and short variant and to Brent Crude Oil with a double leveraged long variant.

In addition, investors have access to WisdomTree Industrial Metals - EUR Daily Hedged ETC, which tracks the performance of futures contracts on industrial metals. Industrial metals include aluminium, copper, nickel and zinc. This is a currency-hedged product that minimises the impact of exchange rate fluctuations against the euro.

Since futures contracts have a limited term, they are generally exchanged for futures contracts with the next maturity date before maturity (roll-over effect). Depending on whether the acquired futures contract is cheaper or more expensive than the sold futures contract, roll profits or roll losses are achieved.

The product offering in Deutsche Börse's XTF segment currently comprises a total of 2,059 ETFs, 190 ETCs and 263 ETNs. With this selection and an average monthly trading volume of around €16 billion, Xetra is the leading trading venue for ETFs in Europe.
