Interim dividend
Partial advance payment of dividend to shareholders
An interim dividend is an advance payment on the dividend, which paid is mostly periodically, e.g. quarterly. In Germany, interim dividends are strictly regulated and allowed only after the conclusion of a fiscal year with a profit. This regulation means to protect companies from loss of substance. However, in other countries such as the USA, interim dividends are common.
